Kilele Pesa Ltd is a Kenyan financial technology company, registered in Kenya and based in Nairobi. We are building a fairer way to borrow for the people who keep the informal economy moving.
Why we exist
Millions of Kenyans run real businesses — the mama mboga restocking her stall before dawn, the boda rider growing his route, the fundi, the salon owner, the freelancer paid per gig. They move money every day, repay faithfully, and still get told "no" by lenders because they don't have a payslip, collateral, or a paper file.
We think that's backwards. The evidence of a good borrower is already in how they actually earn and spend — their real money story. Kilele Pesa exists to let that story speak.
What we do
- We read your story privately, on your phone. With your permission, the Kilele Pesa app understands your income and repayment behaviour from your own transaction messages — on your device. Your messages are never uploaded; only a summary of numbers is used to size a fair offer.
- We size what you can comfortably repay. Every offer is capped by affordability — we would rather offer you less than see you drown. No hidden fees, no debt traps.
- We let licensed lenders compete for you. Offers show the total you would repay, itemised and ranked cheapest first. You always choose. Kilele Pesa is a technology platform — loans are provided by licensed lending partners, and we are not a bank.
- We explain ourselves. Approved or not, you are entitled to a plain-language reason, and to a human review of any automated decision.
Our name
"Kilele" is Swahili for summit. Every hustle is a climb — the goal of good credit is simple: to help you get higher. Climb higher. We've got you.
